Ruling could mean end to saucy Bratz dolls - Retail - msnbc.com

If you have daughters and granddaughters that are crazy about "The Bratz" dolls there is bad news on the horizon.  The dolls will likely become obsolete when a recent court ruling takes affect.

Pouty-lipped Bratz will stay on store shelves until after the holidays, but their fate after that — and that of their parent, MGA Entertainment Inc. — was uncertain Thursday after a federal court ruling banning MGA from making the saucy Barbie alternative.

MGA is appealing the ruling which — if upheld — is a severe blow for the company and an equal boon for Barbie maker Mattel Inc., which has been duking it out with MGA over Bratz for four years.

“In the most dire scenario, MGA can’t sell Bratz at all and a humongous chunk of their business disappears,” said Needham & Co. analyst Sean McGowan. “But it’s likely they will work out a way for MGA to stay in business but Mattel to profit.”

No! These are American made dolls, Eric. They've been very popular now for 3 to 5 years, I guess.

That's what it's truly about...money as usual. Never mind all the little girls that have come to love the Bratz Dolls and everything dealing with the Bratz. Well, I guess that's one doll that will be a collector's item one day. As for my granddaughter, she probably has everything they ever put out, including bedroom decor.

mga hsould have relized that the mometn the bratze become a threat to barbie matel would not hesitate to try and destory them. that plus the judgement stated the braze creator legaly made them while working for matel. but goes to show why some companies can't stand competion and also may mean barbie will once again be the only game in the doll isle. a stupid lawsuit in the first place.
